Both in the third quarter of 2024/2025 and the first nine months of 2024/2025 DATAGROUP has continued to grow in a market environment that remains challenging. Development in earnings reflects the ongoing investments in the future fields of artificial intelligence, cyber security and cloud technologies, and is in line with expectations at an EBIT margin of 8.0 %. In the first nine months of 2024/2025, orders from new customers added up to roughly EUR 23m, while cross- and upselling contracts worth approximately EUR 15m were secured. The outlook for the full year 2024/2025 is confirmed.
Revenue was up slightly by 3.4 % to EUR 136.3m in the third quarter of 2024/2025 (PY EUR 131.8m) and 9.3 % to EUR 416.1m in the first nine months of 2024/2025 (PY EUR 380.5m). Accordingly, gross profit was up 9.2 % to EUR 296.1m (PY EUR 271.3m).
EBITDA came to EUR 60.9m (PY EUR 58.3m) and EBIT to EUR 33.5m (PY EUR 32.2m). The EBIT margin thus stood at 8.0 % after the first nine months of 2024/2025 versus 8.5 % in the prior-year period. “Our growth demonstrates that our solid business model differentiates us from the competition and secures sustainable development. Customer projects, such as supporting Degussa Goldhandel on their growth path or the digitalization of student finance in the federal state of Hesse, illustrate that we convince in both highly productive, standardized CORBOX services and customized, individual IT solutions tailored to our clients’ specific needs”, says DATAGROUP’s CEO Andreas Baresel, commenting on the results.
The balance sheet total increased to EUR 569.9m (30.09.2024: EUR 537.4m) in comparison to the end of the fiscal year. The equity ratio of 28.9 % slightly exceeds the level at the end of the fiscal year (30.09.2024: 28.6 %). Liquid funds amounted to EUR 28.5m (30.09.2024: EUR 36.6m).
Total net debt was EUR 175.9m on 30.06.2025 compared to EUR 139.1m at the end of the fiscal year on 30.09.2024. This increase is mainly attributable to the acquisition of Tarador (EUR 8.3m), earn-out payments (EUR 5.2m), the dividend payment of EUR 8.3m and the share buyback of EUR 2.1m. Accordingly, the net debt to EBITDA ratio is 2.2 (30.09.2024: 1.7). Cash inflow from operating activities was EUR 13.8m (PY EUR 29.0m).

Pliezhausen, 3 July 2025 – DATAGROUP continues to advance the digitalization of student finance in Hesse with the introduction of electronic files (e-files) for BAföG at Studierendenwerk (student services organization) Gießen. Following implementations in Darmstadt and Kassel, Gießen is now the third location to replace the paper-based processes with a digital solution.
The shift to digital processing of BAföG applications at Studierendenwerk Gießen represents another important step toward the modernization of administrative procedures. The digitalization of student finance thus is structured and advanced in a sustainable way.
To implement the project in Gießen, an interdisciplinary project group was formed to analyze existing procedures and develop new digital workflows. DATAGROUP provided both technical and conceptual support, coordinating the phased roll-out of BAföG e-files through pilot groups and laying the foundation for the transition in the office.
The transition to e-files improves administrative efficiency, reduces paper usage, and enables the adoption of modern, flexible processes. Documents can now be accessed digitally, facilitating mobile work beyond the office environment. Paper documents are scanned with legal validity and integrated into the system, while electronically received documents no longer need to be printed or archived physically. This significantly eases operations and contributes to more sustainable administration. Students also benefit from faster processing times and improved communication with the offices. Dominik Kaiser, Head of the Office for Educational Support in Gießen, notes: “Despite the challenges that come with such a comprehensive transition, it becomes apparent that digital file management offers many benefits. We have reviewed and optimized existing workflows, laying the foundation for a future-ready administration – a win-win for both students and staff.”
In early 2024, DATAGROUP initiated the first implementation of BAföG e-files in a pilot project with Studierendenwerk Darmstadt. This project resulted in the development of technical standards and process guidelines, created in close collaboration and used as the foundation for subsequent roll-outs. Based on this groundwork, e-files were introduced in Kassel and Gießen. DATAGROUP is now working on implementing BAföG e-files in other federal states as well.
The IT service provider has many years of experience in digitalizing public administration processes. With its BAFSYS software, DATAGROUP is the leading provider for managing student support schemes (BAföG and AFBG) in Germany. This software is already used in eleven federal states. As a digitalization partner, DATAGROUP not only manages technical implementation but also offers comprehensive support to public institutions – from process analysis and workflow design to training.

Pliezhausen, 5 June 2025 – DATAGROUP remains among the Top 10 leading IT service providers in Germany in 2025. Market researcher Lünendonk & Hossenfelder has published the current Lünendonk Lists as well as the initial results of the study on “The Market for IT Services in Germany”.
Ranking seventh in the current Lünendonk List “Leading IT Services Companies in Germany”, DATAGROUP reaffirms its strong position in the IT services market. The lists have been published alongside the first results of the study on “The Market for IT Services in Germany”. The complete research is set to be released in late July.
The study shows that the IT services market is also affected by the economic crisis, albeit with a delay. At the same time, pioneering topics such as artificial intelligence and digital sovereignty continue to gain importance.
“In a challenging market environment, it becomes clear how vital it is to have a broad and efficient portfolio as well as close customer relationships. Our approach of providing IT services with a regional base and a strategic focus on growth areas such as AI, cloud, and cybersecurity has proven its worth. We are extremely pleased about our good ranking in the Lünendonk List,” explains Alexandra Mülders, Divisional Director of Sales at DATAGROUP.
Driven by escalating geopolitical tensions, increased requirements for data security, and US tariffs, for instance, the growing importance of digital sovereignty is another key topic in this year’s Lünendonk Study. This trend makes local providers more attractive.
“IT services provided from Germany are increasingly becoming a strategic advantage. The combination of regional presence, legal certainty, and technological excellence enhances our clients’ confidence. DATAGROUP stands for IT ‘Made in Germany’ – sovereign, reliable, and future-ready,” highlights Andreas Baresel, Chief Executive Officer of DATAGROUP.
